Round The Island Race 2014
Round The Island Race is the biggest yacht race in the world and it is simply an incredible experience. Racing with 1600 plus yachts is quite breath taking. It is a race for all types – the ‘formula 1’ racers, the local racers, corporate, friend and family events. It can take anywhere from 4 to 15 hours. This year was a slow one but still exciting in its own way and we were blessed with sunshine all day.
The boat owner kindly had our boat scrubbed clean before the race. Nice shiny clean bottom was a great start. Thank you Andy.
The Island Sailing Club do a great job organising and with the ability to track boats you can relive your day and family/friends can track you.
Just a few pictures but even these don’t really do justice to the thrill of this event. It is open to all. It is so popular that most boats are already booked for 2015!!!!
