The annual Bramble Bank Cricket Match took place on Thursday and for the first time ever I was able to watch it in real life – albeit with a 2.45m keel we had to keep some way off. A grey start to the day but still exciting to see such a unique event. It is simply unbelievable.
I have never seen the Bank before. It is covered almost every other day of the year and I sail close to it when racing but you always know it is lurking there…..

Team events – challenging and even more satisfying to organise events with several boats – we just did one for 45 people and 6 boats. Everyone starts so nervously and to see their faces as they each take turns to steer the boat – we rarely keep to a straight line as they each learn…

Some great sailing all year – not much time on dry land. Plenty of teaching, trip to St Vaast, Weymouth, heading to Devon next week, Croatia in August, then plenty in the Solent. Some very hot and sunny days, one rather wet, some very windy – whatever the sailing has been fabulous.
Some great sailing in the Solent in October. Mixed weather with some wet days but not really cold. As ever some great views at sunrise, sunset, moon rise, mid day. Quite magical. I don’t want the sailing season to end…..
