Team Events
Team events – challenging and even more satisfying to organise events with several boats – we just did one for 45 people and 6 boats.
Everyone starts so nervously and to see their faces as they each take turns to steer the boat – we rarely keep to a straight line as they each learn but learn they do! Inevitably we race in some form or other and the banter and competitive spirit comes to the fore. It really breaks down barriers and I love seeing people teasing each other in a way they would never have dreamt of doing in the office. Surely they will all work much better together after such an event?
It is so satisfying to see poeople breaking down barriers and building relationships and also seeing them overcome their nerves. You can really see the terror on some people at first as they step on the boat and then the exhileration as they settle in to the environment.
I’ve hosted events as a leader in the corporate world and now organise them and skipper them so understand all aspects – it just adds to the desire to make the day perfect and it is so rewarding.
